Thrashers agree to terms with G Lehtonen (AP)
The Atlanta Thrashers have agreed to terms with goaltender Kari Lehtonen, who was an restricted free agent. Terms of the deal were not announced Wednesday. The 24-year-old Lehtonen matched his career high with four shutouts and posted a 17-22-5 record last season. He had a 2.90 goals-against average and set a Thrashers record with his .916 save percentage.

Coyotes name Sulliman assistant coach (AP)
Doug Sulliman, a former NHL player and assistant coach, was hired as an assistant coach by the Phoenix Coyotes on Thursday. Sulliman, 48, replaces Rick Tocchet, who was hired this week as an assistant coach by the Tampa Bay Lightning. Sulliman played in the NHL from 1979-90 and then was an assistant coach with the New Jersey Devils from 1990-93.

The Tampa Bay Lightning signed goalie Mike Smith to a $4.4 million, two-year contract extension on Monday. Smith was acquired from the Dallas Stars in February. The incumbent starter played in 13 games with the Lightning last season. “It goes without saying Mike has a bright future,” Tampa Bay vice president of hockey operations Brian Lawton said.

Doug Sulliman, a former NHL player and assistant coach, was hired as an assistant coach by the Phoenix Coyotes on Thursday. No broadcaster shows more how fast and far digital media has come than NBC Universal and its plans for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. During the 2006 Turin Winter Games, NBC streamed only one hockey game online.
